The second career guidance talk of the Education and Skills Development Program for Young People in Mejillones (PEC, Spanish acronym) was held before a full auditorium at Complejo Educativo Juan José Latorre Benavente.
The career guidance talk, entitled “Your Attitude, Your Talent, Your Future,” explored the soft skills young people need to enter the workforce. The presentations also covered some of the professional and technical roles that will be required by the next-generation industries planning to develop projects in Mejillones.
On this occasion, the presentations were led by Cristian Troncoso, Director of Community Engagement at INACAP Antofagasta, and María Gabriela Herrera, Admissions Officer at INACAP Antofagasta, together with school authorities and NorQuim representatives.

The two talks held in 2025 reached 270 students, providing six instructional hours of content and involving nearly 10 teachers. The activities contributed to students’ educational development and encouraged interest in the opportunities offered by next-generation industries.
This is the focus of the Education and Skills Development Program (PEC): through career guidance talks and other concrete educational activities, it seeks to contribute to the technical preparation of young people from the municipality so that they can develop their potential within their own community.
This first cycle of talks was aimed at students in their second year of secondary school to support their career guidance process and encourage interest in trades and professions that will be important for green industries.
According to feedback from the school’s teaching staff, the career guidance talks have been well received by the educational community. A third PEC talk at Complejo Educativo Juan José Latorre Benavente was therefore already planned for the first quarter of 2026.
